Helaina concentrates her practice on complex and general commercial litigation, including breach of contract and partner and shareholder disputes. Her experience also includes accounting and legal malpractice.
Prior to joining Katzman, Wasserman, Bennardini & Rubinstein, PA, Helaina was a partner at Hackleman, Olive & Judd, and, prior to that, a shareholder at the Gunster Firm.
Helaina received her B.S. (magna cum laude) from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and her Juris Doctor (with honors) from the University of Chicago School. After law school, Helaina served as a law clerk to the Honorable Howard Sachs in the Western District of Missouri.
Helaina represents local and national clients in Florida’s federal, state, and appellate courts, as well as arbitration. Notable examples include successfully defending a big-four accounting firm in a $500 million malpractice case, defeating the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s sovereign immunity defense to breaches of multiple construction contracts, and obtaining a dismissal of a $1.7 billion shareholder and ERISA class action.
